10th TUV AUSTRIA Lift Day - Lift Safety, Technology and Inspection

Befitting the remarkable 10th anniversary of the crowd-pleasing TUV AUSTRIA Lift Day, DI Gottfried Jung, Head of Lift Technology at TUV AUSTRIA, cordially welcomed around 500 guests at the regal Vienna City Hall. State Delegate Dr. Kurt Stürzenbecher extended his congratulations as representative of the City of Vienna. TUV AUSTRIA HOLDING AG CEO Director Dr. Hugo Eberhardt likewise applauded the annual event's on-going success, which has made the Lift Day a vital gathering point for engineers, managers and administrators. The exciting agenda of top lectures and discussions covered topics such as the lift restoration, fire protection, Green Building and not least safety.

TUV AUSTRIA boasts an impressive record in all matters lift technology and inspection: more than 77.000 facilities were reviewed in the last year, 75.000 of which were lifts, 1.500 escalators. More than two thirds of all lifts in Austria are equipped with an emergency call system; Vienna is the best equipped federal state (%94), followed by Lower Austria (62%) and Burgenland (55%).

By analysing and locating safety hazards, TUV AUSTRIA contributes to safety in many areas. The most commonly registered technical deficiencies, according to the Safety Report 2010, concern automatic car doors, followed closely by correction inaccuracies as well as technical failures.
