As part of the EU "Technical Assistance" program, a delegation from the Turkish Ministry of Industry and Trade visited TUV AUSTRIA from May 11th to May 13th 2011. At the heart of the expert talks was the implementation of the European Lifts Directive No. 95/16/EG in Turkey.

A better understanding on the basis of practical examples
The exciting series of talks allowed the gathered group of eclectic experts to mutually exchange ideas on the European Lifts Directive and the harmonised standards and applications based thereupon.

Inquiries and further information >>

A trip to the renowned lift components and safety parts manufacturer Wittur Gmbh in Scheibbs, Lower Austria provided immensely rewarding insights. The internationally operating company, held in high regard wordwide, gave its guests an opportunity to learn first hand about the elevator manufacture processes at the production plants for car frame systems, safety components, modular door systems and electronics.

Aiming for uniform standards

All participants agreed during the so-called "study visit" that the establishment and continuous execution of uniform standards constituted the foundation for the safe construction and operation of elevators. The engaging talks underlined to the same extent that both the maintenance and increase of the safety of operational lift installations could only be achieved by periodical inspections performed specifically by accredited inspection bodies.

TUV AUSTRIA as a partner for quality and safety

At the reception of the Turkish embassy in Vienna, the First Embassy Counsellor Mr. Karadeniz emphasised the importance of an economic partnership between Austria and Turkey. Director Bakir, who headed the delegation, concluded: "We wish that we may build a close relationship with TUV AUSTRIA in the future to better implement the European Lifts Directive 95/16/EC in Turkey."
