EU-Twinning "Study visit“:

Macedonian Energy Regulatory Commission ERC visits TÜV AUSTRIA

As part of the EU project which is supported in collaboration with e-control by experts from TÜV AUSTRIA’s electrical engineering division, the Macedonian delegation, led by ERC president Dimitar Petrov, paid a visit to Austria on April 28th.

Macedonia's Energy Regulator Commission President ERC president Dimitar Petrov and Ambassador I.E. Dr. Vesna Borozan visited TÜV AUSTRIA to discuss the importance of periodical inspections to risk minimisation and prevention of economic disadvantage due to energy plant failures.

Technical safety as the highest priority:

Presentations on TÜV AUSTRIA Group and in particular electrical engineering kicked off an insightful introduction of the group’s wide scope of operations. The audience unanimously realised that only periodical inspections and maintenance of plants and facilities led to both operational risk minimisation and prevention of economic disadvantages due to plant (system) failures.

Consumers at the focal point:

The subject of energy regulation, especially the liberalisation of energy markets and consumer prices, was also one of the main items on the agenda. Customers may choose from a vast range of several providers, which generated a healthy measure of competition, but would equally have to compel plant operators even more to guarantee the usual quality of energy supply to their customers. Such a responsibility towards consumers could only be satisfied from a technical point of view if high quality and appropriate maintenance of the required facilities were in place, the experts agreed.

Quality through education:

Macedonian ambassador I.E. Dr. Vesna Borozan thanked TÜV AUSTRIA for organising the event and the pleasant invitation, stressing that safety and quality could only be achieved through the proper education of experts. This certainly was one of greatest factors of technical safety, Ambassador Dr. Borozan concluded.
