TÜV TRUST IT GMBH, the IT Security branch of the TUV AUSTRIA Group, certified Windows Internet Explorer 9.

Microsoft had the IT security experts at TÜV TRUST IT, a member of the TUV AUSTRIA Group, test Windows Internet Explorer 9 according to the proprietary requirement and testing catalogue "Trusted Internet Application - Web Browser Environment".

Following the successful certification of the Internet Explorer 8 in 2010 by TÜV TRUST IT, Microsoft commissioned the IT security branch of the TUV AUSTRIA Group to conduct a thorough examination of the latest edition of their popular browser. Microsoft once again approached TÜV TRUST IT to document the quality of development procedures and the maintenance of the resulting application.

Like its predecessor, Windows Internet Explorer 9 received the coveted TÜV TRUST IT - Tested Software certificate for its quality and the enhanced security measures that help users protect their computers against online threats such as socially engineered attacks, computer and website attacks (for example cross-site scripting).
