Hospital Service:Periodical Inspection of Medical Devices / Facilities | |
Medical-technical devices used in health institutions are required by Austrian law to be periodically inspected regarding safety and faultless operation for the protection of patients (MPG-96, BGBl.Nr. 657/96, § 87).
Hospitals, rehabilitation centers, outpatient clinics, physiotherapy institutes and similar facilities, as well as the registered medical faculty are considered health institutions. Within the boundaries of this inspection, the safety technological and functional status of medical devices needs to be ascertained. The inspection may only be conducted by qualified persons and inspection bodies. The choice of an adequate inspection body falls in the responsibility of the facility operator.
Accredited inspections bodies for medical products, such as TÜV AUSTRIA, are verifiably qualified. TÜV AUSTRIA performs such inspections on around 65.000 medical devices annually.
The inspection reports are issued as a printed document or digitally. The latter can be imported to maintenance applications such as vFM by Loy&Hutz.
It is TÜV AUSTRIA'S goal to offer, as a certified inspection body, all operators of medical devices inspection services according to the MPG and as fitting the product concerned at adequate prices.
