The German inspections market will be liberalized on 01.01.2008. TÜV AUSTRIA is getting into the act. The somewhat dry abbreviation "ZÜS" stands for "licensed inspection office". This simply means that in Germany too the inspection of plants with a higher danger risk will no longer be carried out by experts appointed by the authorities, but by licensed inspection offices. TÜV AUSTRIA applied for a license to the competent office at the Bavarian State Ministry for Environment, Health and Consumer Protection, the central office of the states for safety technology (ZLS), successfully passed the licensing procedure and received the positive licensing notification. The license is for the monitoring or recurring inspection of pressure equipment and lifts. Dipl.-Ing. Peter Glas, an expert for pressure equipment, is already working as a contact person in Germany together with a number of experienced inspectors. The service as NOBO (Notified Body) according to the PED (Pressure Equipment Directive) or Lift Directive, which has been taken up in Germany for years already, will continue unchanged. The person in charge of the lifts sector is Dipl.-Ing. Gottfried Jung. The contact for the certification of quality management systems is our German subsidiary UMSITEC. This means for our clients that TÜV AUSTRIA will shortly be allowed to offer the entire range of inspection activities, from the design via production to commissioning and the recurring inspections, on the German market and it will certainly do so. Austrian companies with branches in Germany in particular will thus be able to maintain also in Germany the cooperation they have been accustomed to in Austria for decades.
