Service:Testing Avalanche Blasting Systems |
The blasting of avalanches is amongst the usual methods of securing a terrainin a touristically used alpine area. One type of triggering avalanches uses stationary avalanche blasting equipment operated with liquid gas (propane). Propane and oxygen are fed by radio control through pipes to the blast pipe. There the propane – oxygen mixture is explodedvia spark plugs.

For the equipment approved according to the Industrial Code TÜV AUSTRIA performs the inspections according to § 82b Industrial Code, according to the liquid gas ordinance 2002 - FGV and the Pressure Equipment
Surveillance Regulation. For the inspection according to § 82b Industrial Code written documentation etc. is inspected on the first day (“paper day“). This is followed on the second day by an inspection on site (“field day“) or – if the object is far away – by a helicopter flight (“flight day”). In the course of this the TÜV experts check that the regulations to be observed locally are met.
