Two personalities of top sports, who achieved top results over many years also in the TÜV, are retiring.
Dipl.-Ing. Walter Dießl, age group 1943, had great results as a decathlete. In 1968 Dießl was 12th in the decathlon at the Olympic Games in Mexico and on that occasion also established the Austrian long jump record of 7.42 m. The graduate engineer for process engineering started his career at the TÜV AUSTRIA, at that time named TÜV Wien, in 1971 in Linz, where he was working as an excellent expert in the field of pressure equipment until the start of his retirement at the end of 2008.
The second top sportsman, who is now retiring after long years at the TÜV, is Dipl.-Ing. Heimo Viertbauer. Viertbauer, also age group 1943, was Austrian champion in hammer throw in 1977. In 1979 and 1980 he was captain of the Austrian national track-and field athletics team. He was six times world champion and four times European champion in the senior’s class. He began his career at the TÜV in 1977 and worked since 1979 as a competent expert for machines, cranes, conveyor plants etc. in the Salzburg office.
We would like to thank them on behalf of TÜV AUSTRIA and wish them all the best for the future.
